Lady Raiders JV Basketball Team Finishes Season with 13-3 Record
January 28, 2021

On January 26th 2021, the JV Lady Raiders basketball team played their last game of the season at Fort Walton. The Raiders ended off their 2-month season with a 13-3 record. Tiara Estes, starting guard, shared how she felt about the season ending, “… being able to play with the team all together through such a hard time was an amazing thing, because we didn’t know if we would have a season.” With the coronavirus keeping players quarantined throughout the season, the Lady Raiders almost never had their full team present. But this didn’t stop the team from winning games against Choctaw, Washington, Escambia, Niceville, Gulf Breeze and Pace. The ending was bittersweet as they lost their last game to the Fort Walton Vikings. But the Lady Raiders aren’t done yet. Ichelle Jones, starting forward, explains how she has improved throughout the season, “I think coming into this year, I was pretty scared for my lack of experience. Once we kind of got moving, I was able to calm myself down and process things better and more easily, which I feel like is going to help a lot next year.”

Mia likes to play basketball, watch movies and play with her dog. She has a big family and likes to see them as much as she can.
